Whinstone - Falkland

Who We Are

Whinstone is situated within the historic village of Falkland in Fife, seven miles from Glenrothes.  It has a church, primary school, community centre, public library, local health services and a few local shops.

The accommodation has three bedrooms (two en-suite), two bathrooms and a kitchen/ dining area plus an office / sleep-over room.  We have a large lounge and an arts & crafts area.  A computer area has also been set out and equipped for the children/ young people to use and has proved popular.  Children/ young people are encouraged to personalise their bedrooms, including decorations.

The Whinstone team has seven full-time care workers and one cook/ domestic member of staff.  They are supported by a team of managers who offer 24 hour support to the team.

As the children/ young people in Whinstone tend to be of primary school age, we work closely with social workers towards either returning the children home or to foster carers.

Cairn Mhor considers education as an integral part of our care.  Good relationships have been built with local schools and the mutual support is of great value to children/ young people progressing in their education.

At Whinstone children take part in and enjoy the many different activities available such as swimming, horse riding, nature walks, various local clubs (dancing, Beavers, Brownies).
