What's On Offer

Who We Are

Cairn Mhor Childcare Partnership offer a package of high quality residential care to children/ young people from 6 – 18 years old.  After a period of assessment, we offer individual care packages which reflect the needs of the child. All children are allocated two key workers to ensure their care plans are formulated and implemented.

These include:-

  • Individual work with children/ young people, which could include areas such as anger management, self-esteem, educational support, life-story work and life skills.
  • We work closely with families/ carers and social workers towards rehabilitation in to the community, either returning children/ young people to their families or substitute families.
  • Helping children/ young people reach their potential.  We are supported by an educational psychologist, a psychiatrist, an educationalist and an art therapist.
  • We value education and offer support staff within mainstream school, leading in the majority of cases to young people managing mainstream education independently.  Attendance statistics (95% attendance which we believe is unusual for looked-after children/ young people) are well above the national average due to the relationships we build with our children/ young people and the local schools.
  • All children/ young people are offered music tuition by our very experienced music tutor and can learn to play a musical instrument.  They can participate in the Gardening Project in partnership with Falkland Stewards (a partnership of local voluntary organisations working together to improve the townscape and landscape of Falkland) or assist with the development of our own allotment and wildlife pond or experience a range of complimentary therapies, learn and practice relaxation and  visualisation techniques.
  • Our children/ young people have been able to undertake a wide range of experiences and develop new skills, within Cairn Mhor Childcare Partnership and within the local community; some examples of the activities would include swimming, ice skating, drama, army cadets, football playing & coaching.

Our houses are decorated to a high standard in warm and inviting colours with high quality furnishings helping to create a welcoming environment.  Each child/ young person has their own room and is able to have this space personalised before their arrival to promote their own individuality.
